Queen Of The Moon
A downloadable game
queen of the moon is a roleplaying game for 2-4 players about the way we build intimacy in a hostile world. it was written by che, and is a hack of SLEEPAWAY. it's a game about secret worlds, fragility, and the deep power of the bonds we make outside and against the rules.
in order to play queen of the moon you will need a partner, and a deck of playing cards, and something to use as tokens, and a copy of this playbook, which contains:
- the full rules of the game
- a long (i mean long) introduction, with some theoretical nonsense in there too
- playbooks for five characters, TYRANT BEE, BUG BOY, ACE, BRICK, and *NAINHWEDIOSHENDO
- seriously so much theoretical nonsense. you're basically buying a pedagogical manifesto here, seriously.
queen of the moon was written as a reflection to complete my contract as a teacher with AmeriCorps, and i'm probably done working on it right now. i might do some shadow line edits and i might come back to it someday, but for now, it's a finished(ish) game.

This sounds really cool. What does it mean by intimate play btw? I've never heard that term
thanks! both intimate play and subsocietal individualization are terms of my own (although others have probably used similar one in the past) and plays on typical child development language like "individuation" or "parallel play." i'm using them here to talk about the private (intimate) lives (and societies) of children, beyond adult observation.
Beautifully written, piercingly insightful, painfully true. One of those rare RPGs that's not just the framework for a game, but also worth reading for its own sake.
this is truly so kind 💜 thank you so much
